As a former soldier and infantryman during the war between the states, Mr. Fairbanks is no stranger to the benefits of bold action in risky times.
It’s no surprise then that Mr. Fairbanks didn’t blink during the bank panic of two years past. In the ensuing sell-off he and his partners acquired twenty-thousand acres of prime timber parcels which are already returning tidy dividends. He has now turned his attention to the construction of a sawmill, saying that the building boom is bound to continue.
